Golfing tips – It’s not all about the swing
Becoming a better golfer is not all about improving your swing, here are some golfing tips you can follow to help lower your scores without having to modify the way you swing your club.
The grip
Many golfers don’t grip there club hard enough causing the club to rotate slightly on impact with the ball. Most club grips have a mark on them showing the center point of the club, you should aim to align both of your thumbs pointingin-line with this marker. Once thumbs are aligned correctly grip down on the club slightly harder than normal, hit a few balls and hopefully you should see a reduction in the amount the ball slices. There are other reasons why a ball can slice but this may correct the slice with many golfers.
Reading the greens
Too many golfers waste too many strokes on the putting green. Be sure before you play a round of golf to hit 50 or so putts on the practice green. What youwant to concentrate on here is getting the speed right, not necessarily getting the ball in the hole. Hit 10 putts from a 3 foot concentrating on getting the length right, keep moving back 3 feet after hittinganother 10 putts. The idea of this exercise is to focus on green speeds, if you get the speed right your second putt should be relatively simple to make, cutting out costly 3 putts from your game.
Overcoming hazards
Why is it the when golfers are faced with a large water hazard or bunker they always find a way to hit there ball into it? This comes down to mental attitude, you need to block the hazard out of your mind and play as if it were a normal fairwayed hole without any hazards. While addressing the ball keep you head down and think about the shots you played on previous holes where you hit the ball well, imagine your playing this shot again and make your normal swing.
Use these simple golfing tips and you should drop some strokes from you score, hopefully this will motivate you take take the next step and work on improving your swing which is a more difficult aspect of the game to master.
